TV Re-Reviews

What is a TV Re-Review?

Were you ever afraid that something you loved when you were a kid just wouldn’t live up to your memory when you saw it as an adult? I’m willing to take on that task.

Each re-review will begin with any memories I have about this specific episode. Any personal preferences, anecdotes, memorable quotes. Then, I’ll watch the episode again. I’ll be looking for different things and give an updated review and fun details and jokes I may not have picked up on back in the day.

TV Show

Episode title and number (season.episode number)

Original Air Date (usually found on tv.com)

Re-Review Date via Source (iTunes, OnDemand, DVD, YouTube, etc.)

Synopsis: General summary of plot.

Memories: Any personal memories for this episode, if any. I may include stories, any quotes I may recall, if I remember liking the episode or not, etc.

Re-Review: From an educated, critical stand-point, how does the show hold up, both for adults and kids? Did it live up to my memory? Or is it any better or worse?

It’s Interesting That…: This category will be used to point out considerations and decisions that the creators/writers/actors/etc. took into account when making the episode.

Attention to Detail: As an experienced television viewer, I know there’s a lot more to look for in a frame than the moving characters. Here I’ll use the magic of “pause” to find the little stuff that may only be on the screen for a split second.

And for the Grown-Ups: The best kids’ series take parents into consideration when writing a script. As any parent or long-time baby-sitter knows, kids will watch shows and movies repeatedly, almost obsessively (something I never grew out of). Good shows throw in occasional references and jokes that are meant for grown-ups to catch. These usually go over the heads of young ones and when you look back, you’ll see just how many jokes you didn’t get the first time around.

Production Notes: Here is where attention will be paid to the creative artists behind the scenes.

Quote That!: Self-explanatory. These quotes will either be great now or back then.

Depending on the episode and series, not all categories will be in every re-review. This is just some of the stuff I’ll be looking for. Below you’ll find a list of TV Re-Reviews so far. If you’re looking for a specific episode/series that hasn’t been done yet, let me know! I’m open to suggestions.
